Tune back into your natural rhythms and gently move through practices that bring peace to your mind and ease in your body. As winter sets in, this retreat invites you to support your wellness, nourish your body, cultivate inner peace, and develop a deep, intuitive understanding of your physical and emotional landscape. This 3-night weekend retreat offers teachings and practices through the lenses of psychology and neuroscience, Buddhism, yoga and Ayurveda.
"The body is our general medium for having a world."
— Maurice Merleau-Ponty
Our program explores the body/mind connection in support of “body-mindfulness”, a holistic approach that nurtures what I call somatic literacy—your ability to listen to and understand the language of your body. Through a combination of yoga, meditation, and therapeutic practices grounded in both ancient wisdom and modern science, your deeper relationship with your body brings an enhanced capacity for presence and a greater sense of ease and well-being.
The program includes:
Yoga and Guided Meditation: Gentle, mindful movement practices that help you tune into your body’s sensations, build strength and flexibility, and release stored tension. Meditation instruction will primarily be Yoga Nidra, the practice of “yogic sleep.” Each session deepens the teachings and opportunity to integrate. Other meditation techniques will be approached in support of the program’s intentions - supporting a kind, responsive relationship to our experience.
Ayurvedic Wisdom: Drawing on the principles of Ayurveda, we will include practices of self-care that enhance your overall vitality and attunement with nature.
Workshops and Talks: Satisfy your mind’s need for inquiry and “digestion” with talks and workshops blending psychology with contemplative wisdom. These sessions will focus on “body-mindfulness,” including tools for emotion regulation, awareness and a positive relationship to yourself and others.
Reflective Time in Nature: Our retreat centre sits on the edge of the Ottawa River and is adjacent to the Gillie’s Grove conservation area (home to Ontario’s oldest tree). You slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the earth. Nature walks, contemplative exercises, and time for solitude will allow you to integrate your experiences and cultivate a profound sense of peace and presence.
Who Is This For?
This retreat is ideal for anyone seeking to know themselves better and feel more skillful in life, develop a positive relationship to their body and inner world, develop some tools for sustainable and effective movement and meditation practices, reduce stress, learn techniques that support healing from trauma, or simply wish for the time and practices to reconnect with their body in a supportive, nourishing environment. Whether you are new to these practices or have walked this path for some time, as a client, student, therapist, or teacher, you will find tools and teachings that resonate deeply and support your ongoing journey.
Please note: this is an unplugged program. Participants are asked to leave their phones at home/in their cars. Disconnecting from the digital world supports internal connection as well as the atmosphere of mindfulness within the retreat. We will provide emergency phone numbers for you to leave with your loved ones so they can reach you. Please email me if you have questions, concerns, or require digital accommodations.

Yoga Nidra Foundations
Yoga Nidra is a research-backed form of guided meditation with a specific approach and journey. Nidra is premised on supportive presence, making it ideal for practitioners feeling fatigued, over-whelmed, needing additional support, or who have experienced trauma.
